2025 Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada)

Dr Martina Manes had the pleasure of visiting Mohamed Beshir at Carleton University in Ottawa. His Ember Research Group is composed of talented researchers conducting high-quality fundamental and applied investigations in fire safety engineering. She was invited as a visiting academic in one of Mohamed's postgraduate courses, delivering a lecture on international fire incident data and discussing the importance of comprehensive data interpretation to support reliable, evidence-based analyses in fire safety engineering. She also had the opportunity to visit the National Research Council Canada/Conseil national de recherches Canada (NRC) laboratories, which provide extensive capabilities for small, medium, and large-scale fire testing. Discussions with NRC were constructive and identified opportunities for future collaborations.
2025 York University (Toronto, Canada)

Dr Martina Manes visited Dr John Adam Gales at York University, exchanging perspectives on current research directions in structural fire engineering. A unique opportunity to reconnect and explore potential synergies in advancing the field through collaborative research initiatives.
2024 Frissbe (ZAG) (Ljubljana, Slovenia)

Thanks to the 2024 funding from the Zavod za gradbeništvo Slovenije - Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, Dr Martina Manes visited Frissbe (ZAG) in Slovenia to work on a research project led by Dr Ulises Rojas-Alva with colleagues at ZAG focused on the creation of a framework for the fire impact estimation on the environmental and sustainable requirements and comprehensive optimisation in the built environment.
2024 Universidad de Navarra (Pamplona, Spain)
Dr Martina Manes was hosted by Prof César Martín-Gómez from 18th to 28th September 2024 at the Universidad de Navarra (Pamplona, Spain) as a visiting academic. She was able to engage in discussions with professionals and researchers in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura who provided a different view on the fire safety issues affecting our communities. Finally, she attended the EVRisk workshop on EV fires organized by Dr Mohd Zahirasri Mohd Tohir and Prof César Martín-Gómez on 26th September 2024 with relevant stakeholders from academia, industry and local authorities. The discussions created relevant bases for future collaborations addressing fire risk in car parks.
