Study with us

Welcome to the School of Engineering. Our School’s mission is to change people's lives through creating and disseminating knowledge about engineering. With a wide range of courses to choose from, across both undergraduate and postgraduate studies, we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and supportive environment for our diverse range of students.

Our courses are all underpinned by a world-class research environment. At undergraduate level you can specialise in Aerospace, Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, or Product Design Engineering. Customise your studies by adding pilot studies to Aerospace or Structural Engineering within the Civil stream. We also provide extensive options in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, including combinations with Computer Science, alongside dedicated courses in Mechatronics and Robotic Systems. For advanced study, our MSc programmes span these disciplines as well as Biomedical, Nuclear and Manufacturing Engineering. Many postgraduate tracks offer a management focus, with flexible start dates for some courses available in both January and September.

As a founding member of the Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate (CDIO) initiative - we believe you learn best by doing. You can find our students transforming plastic waste into products in the award-winning Active Learning Labs or testing sustainable dam solutions in the water flumes. Designing inclusive tech in the robotics and design labs or learning to fly in our renowned flight simulators. You will tackle complex, real-world challenges alongside our pioneering researchers and industry partners, gaining hands-on experience that transforms theory into practice.

Our students benefit from full access to world-class facilities, including:

  • Award-winning Active Learning labs for collaborative problem-solving
  • Advanced flight simulators to test aerospace designs in a risk-free environment
  • Robotics and hydraulics suites for developing next-generation automation and systems.

Ultimately, you will graduate with the skills to create the impactful engineering solutions needed now and in the future.
