Liverpool Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering ranked in top 100 Universities in the world

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2013 has placed Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Liverpool in its top 100. 

This is a new entry into the worldwide top 100 for the University this year.

In total, the rankings have placed five University of Liverpool subjects in its top 100.

Pharmacy & Pharmacology and Mechanical Engineering are new entries to the worldwide top 100 for the University this year, joining existing top performing subjects Medicine, Earth & Marine Sciences, and Geography.

 QS World University Rankings by Subject profiles the top 200 universities in the world for 30 individual subjects. Using academic and employer reputation surveys, citations per paper and the H-index, QS produces subject tables grouped under five broad faculty areas: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management.

 The QS World University Rankings 2013, which profiles the world’s top 700 universities overall, are set to be released in the autumn.

 Commenting on the results Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, Professor Sir Howard Newby said: “It’s fantastic to see that the University has added two more subjects to the top 100 QS World University Ranking by Subject tables. We have our sights firmly set on continuing to improve and strengthen our position as a world leader for learning and research and will continue to invest to raise the performance and perception of the institution and its subjects globally.”

Overall the University of Liverpool appears in 20 of the 30 published top 200 subjects, up from last year with Modern Languages entering the rank 151-200 and Communication and Media Studies entering the rank 101-150.  The University of Liverpool, with 20 subjects, ranks alongside Cardiff and Newcastle.  Read more
