About

Personal Statement

Having degrees both from the arts (literature and writing, media and cultural studies) as well as the sciences (management studies, corporate governance) I am a genuine interdisciplinarian.

I am passionate about interdisciplinarity, creativity, sustainability and professional practice, particularly in education and the creative and social economies. I have worked both in academia and industry, including as charity CEO, digital projects manager and social impact consultant.

I am trustee and deputy chair of Safe Regeneration, an arts regeneration charity which offers participatory arts, wellbeing and environmental programmes, business support services, and runs the region’s only non-profit community pub. Safe Regeneration is lead partner of #DestinationBootle, a £33m cultural regeneration project involving affordable housing, a new creative enterprise hub and canalside leisure facilities. I am founding director of Safe Community Homes, a start-up community-led housing provider.

I have been researching and teaching in higher education since 2005, and see myself as an academic leader with an in-depth view of Higher Education in the UK today, and a track record in innovation and sustainable partnership development.
