We know that moving to a new country to do a degree can initially be a daunting experience. The university and the department offer support in numerous ways.

The University of Liverpool has an international support office dedicated to helping integrate international students into the university.

In the department, we have an award-winning chemistry support office, who will support you day-to-day with submitting chemistry assignments, arrange buddies/ mentors to help support you throughout your university journey and are a fantastic source of knowledge and pastoral support.

All students will be linked with an academic advisor who will support you throughout your degree. Our friendly team of lecturers, lab demonstrators, technicians, year coordinators are always on hand to support you in during your studies in the department.

What is Liverpool like?

When considering where you will be studying, the place where you will be living is really important, you will be here for a couple of years at least!

Liverpool is a wonderful city to study in. It is a friendly city that has everything you could want from a big city, but it is only a 15-minute walk from the heart of the city centre to the University campus.

There are lots of things to do here from visiting the cities numerous museums and art galleries, to nightlife and food. You can watch concerts and musicals in places like the M&S Bank Arena, The Empire and the Philharmonic. We have not one, but two cathedrals, either end of Hope Street, which regularly hold events where you can visit.

You can even hop on the train and travel to local beaches like Formby (if you are lucky you may spot some red squirrels!), Crosby (home of Anthony Gormley’s Another Place) and West Kirby.
