Asterios Agkathidis research focuses on emerging computational technologies and their impact on form finding processes, material applications, sustainability, digital manufacturing and construction. He has wide experience in realization of complex geometries using digital manufacturing techniques and the file to factory design process. He is co-designer of the WestendGate Towers (2009-2011, Frankfurt) sustainable facade, awarded with the solar price 2011 by Eurosolar (European Association for Renewable Energy) and the Tree Structure Canopy (Frankfurt 2009-2010) awarded by the Association of Greek Architects in 2010. He received the RIBA's Research Trust Award in 2013 (proposal on sustainable retrofits in Britain). His current research activities are centred in parametric design, generative design, adaptive/interactive design, material computation, 3D printing and digital fabrication.
