    About

    Personal Statement

I am a Senior Lecturer and Director of the integrated Master of Biological Sciences MBiolSci programme, Deputy Chair of the Race Equality Charter Self Assessment TEAM and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. After finishing my postgraduate studies in Biochemistry, I travelled to Japan and obtained my PhD in Bio-engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. I moved to the UK to take up my post-doctoral position at the University of Liverpool and later at the University of Manchester. Besides having international experience working in different cultural and academic settings, I also have quite varied research experience. Whereas my PhD was in the field of bioengineering, my postdoctoral and current research mainly involves biochemistry and molecular biology to generate advanced reporter systems that can help explore cell signalling events in real time using Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy.
My teaching philosophy is driven by Sustainable Development Goal 4 i.e "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all" and students' voice and partnership lie at the heart of this process.
