Lecturer School of Life Sciences

    Personal Statement

I am a lecturer in School of Life sciences and Deputy Director of MSc and MbiolSci programmes. After finishing my postgraduate studies in Biochemistry, I travelled to Japan and obtained my PhD in Bio-engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology. I moved to the UK to take up my post-doctoral position at University of Liverpool and later at University of Manchester. Besides having an international experience of working in different cultural and academic settings, I also have a quite varied research experience. Whereas my PhD was in the field of microbiology, my postdoctoral and current research mainly involve molecular biology to generate advanced reporter systems that can help explore cell signalling events in real time using laser scanning confocal microscopy.
