Published on

Emily Greeves, a PhD researcher from the Department of Chemistry’s Bower Research Group, has been awarded first prize for her poster presentation at the Sixth GSK Synthetic Organic Chemistry Postgraduate Symposium (20–21 October 2025). The event was held virtually and brought together postgraduate researchers from across the UK.

Emily’s poster, entitled “Catch and Release Strategy for Skeletal Editing of Saturated N-Heterocycles”, was selected as the winner by a panel of GSK scientists.

Speaking about her success, Emily said:
"I had a great time at the GSK Synthetic Organic Chemistry Postgraduate Symposium. I was selected to present a flash poster presentation which was an excellent opportunity and I was delighted to win first prize for my poster! I really enjoyed this conference, listening to the other presentations and the questions was very insightful."

The award includes a prize of £250 and a certificate, and recognises Emily’s innovative research in the field of synthetic organic chemistry.
