Liverpool PhD student wins Young Chemist Award at international conference

Thomas Ball, a PhD researcher in the Bower Group, has been awarded the Young Chemist Award at the 11th Winter Process Chemistry Conference (1–3 December 2025, Manchester).

Tom will present his work entitled “Studies Towards the Total Synthesis of the Veratrum Alkaloids” to an international audience of process chemists, showcasing innovative approaches in synthetic chemistry.

Speaking about the award, Tom said:
"I'm absolutely thrilled and very grateful to be chosen for the Young Chemist Award. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to present my work to and network with the process chemistry community!"

The Young Chemist Award recognises outstanding early-career researchers and offers winners the chance to share their research on a global stage, alongside leading figures in process chemistry.
