Philosophy at Liverpool combines research excellence in core areas of philosophy with innovative work at the frontiers of the discipline: from political philosophy to spirituality, ancient Chinese philosophy to speculative futures, neo-Platonism to feminism.
Our wide-ranging interests are reflected in our teaching provision, with students able to select from both traditional topics (e.g. metaphysics, philosophy of mind, political philosophy) and more innovative modules (philosophy of the future, philosophy of games, philosophy of race).

Since the late nineteenth century much philosophy has been dominated by the so-called ‘linguistic turn’, according to which central questions in metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics need to be examined through the lens of language.
