Zi is a Lecturer in Geographic Information Science at the Department of Geography and Planning and the Geographic Data Science Lab since September 2023.
Zi Ye is Lecturer in Geographic Information Science at the University of Liverpool. Her research explores how people engage with changing neighbourhoods, particularly in relation to household finance, retail geographies, and broader transformations of the urban landscape. She applies quantitative geospatial methods and theories to explore the compositional and contextual dimensions of socio-spatial structures and inequalities. Zi is also affiliated with the Geographic Data Service (GeoDS), contributing to projects that harness smart data to address social and economic challenges.
She completed her PhD in Human Geography from the University of Leeds in 2021. Her PhD research focused on harnessing social media data to understand urban tourist patterns and the implications for retail location modelling. Prior to her current position, she was a Postdoctoral researcher at the Consumer Data Research Centre (CDRC).
