Tom's current interests focus three key aspects of the 21st Century business environment.

• High growth industries, notably Sport,

• The emerging Ideopolis - Cities of Ideas - and related aspects of economic transformation where knowledge, culture, communication, mobile talent and new industries combine to create sustainable Cities,

• Entrepreneurial Leadership and Growing Businesses
He has developed particular expertise in the benchmarking of Cities against the Ideopolis indicators and assessing the economic impact of events such as the Olympics, The America’s Cup and physical assets such as Science Parks and the distinct role of growth industries from BioTech to Sport.
Tom pioneered work on the Third Generation of Science and Technology Parks where globally mobile talent, university-based research and dynamic urban environments come together.
He completed a major study of Leadership and Management in a Changing World for the UK government’s Departments of Education & Skills and Trade & Industry.
He has worked with such blue chip firms as American Express, Microsoft, Airbus, Allianz, Tesco, BT, NatWest Bank, Body Shop, Wessex Water, BP, General Electric, Virgin, IBM, Trinity Mirror Newspapers, Shell, ICI, Body Shop, Dow Chemicals, Ambrosetti Group, HSBC, Ernst & Young and Goldman Sachs in Britain, Europe and the USA.
He is an acknowledged expert on sports’ finance and economics. Besides advising several governments, corporations, clubs and star players, Tom broadcasts regularly on Sky Sports, BBC TV, Bloomberg and many international TV companies as well as radio and specialist sports and soccer magazines ranging from When Saturday Comes though to Four Four Two. He gave specialist advice to the All Party Parliamentary Review of Football Finance.
