About

Kathy is Professor of Migration Geographies with interests in migration governance, mobility, material culture and home, and is a specialist in Polish migration particularly. She is currently working on three different projects – an AHRC funded project Stay Home Stories, investigating the impact of Covid-19 on experiences of ‘home’ among people with diverse migration and faith backgrounds in the UK; British Academy funded research on UK Poles’ navigations of the post-Brexit Settled Status schemes; and new research on hosting Ukrainian refugees in the UK - see Antipode online intervention.

Kathy has been a Co-editor for the journal Mobilities since May 2022.

Before she moved to Liverpool in 2013 Kathy was Reader in Migration and Material Culture at De Montfort University in Leicester. She was awarded her AHRB-funded PhD on postwar Polish, Italian and Greek-Cypriot migration to the UK at the University of Leicester in 2004.
