Personal Statement

Dr S Haris Ahmed is a consultant physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolic Medicine, at the Countess of Chester Hospital. He is the Lead for Antenatal care and Technologies in the Diabetes Unit. He has pioneered many initiatives in his work environment to improve the care of his patients.
He has been awarded the Quality in Care diabetes award for patient care (2019) for an initiative he undertook, to improve care for pregnant diabetes women.
He successfully pioneered the use of Skype technology to improve antenatal patient care and experience.
He has received an award for Outstanding Patient Care at his hospital.
He is a fellow member of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), a certified RCP examiner and a member of the QWG (Question Writing Group) of the RCP, for the Diabetes and Endocrine speciality exam.
He is a consultant representative in the West Cheshire Area Prescribing Committee.
He is interested and involved in research and education.
He peer-reviews submissions to major journals in his speciality; he actively publishes in peer-reviewed journals.
He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool.
He is an MBChB Clinical Tutor at the University of Liverpool, his role involves facilitating Case Based Learning sessions, delivering lectures, debrief sessions, providing Academic & Research supervision, taking part in the Mini Medical Interviews, question and OSCE station writing.
