Projects
Project work is good evidence of independence and organisation skills. It is viewed favourably by employers and postgraduate admissions tutors.
A mathematics degree from a Russell Group university will put you at the forefront of the graduate employment market. However, many students earn a mathematics degree every year. Independent project work is a good way to gain an extra edge. In addition to the opportunities outlined below, students at the University of Liverpool can complete projects as part of a summer internship and have excellent opportunities to Progress to Postgraduate.
MATH390 Professional Projects and Employability
MATH390 is a 15-credit, semester one year 3 module in which students work in groups on authentic mathematical projects set by employers. Students communicate their results using a variety of methods, including client reports and group presentations. This module is a great opportunity to work with mathematics in a real-world setting and to develop employability and transferable skills. The module can also provide students with specific experiences to draw upon for competency-based graduate scheme interview questions.
Current students interested in taking this module should look out for announcments in the Student Newsletter and for emails from the Departmental Careers and Employability lead.
Projects for integrated master's students
Students on our integrated master's programmes complete a research project in their final year, on a topic of their own choice, with expert supervision from a member of academic staff.
