The effect of intellectual property protection and enforcement on international business

Dr Nick Papageorgiadis researches the effect of intellectual property protection and enforcement on International Business and he is the lead researcher in a number of research projects that investigate the economic impact of national patent systems strength on international business and business strategy.

He developed a new index that measures the strength of patent systems of 49 countries, annually, for the years 1998-2015. The index was published at the Journal of World Business and the scores and latest updates of the index are available on this website: www.liverpool.ac.uk/patent-systems

His research interests relate to: a) the differences in the strength of IP systems internationally and their effect on international business strategies, knowledge transfer, innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth; b) the strategic management of IP protection and enforcement by MNEs and SMEs; c) IP systems, IP management and innovation.
