About the festival
A fascinating weekend of discussions, readings, workshops and debates in one of the most dynamic, culturally vibrant cities in the world.
The inaugural Liverpool Literary Festival took place in October 2016 and featured lively talks and inspirational discussions from an array of literary stars, including Colm Tóibín who was the University’s Chancellor from 2017 until 2022.
Here Colm tells us why he wanted to be part of Liverpool’s first Literary Festival:
Since then, we have welcomed legends from TV and radio, award-winning poets, local authors and bestselling and debut novelists to our iconic Victoria Gallery & Museum.
I loved speaking at the Liverpool Literary Festival: the audience was diverse and engaged. A ‘best-in-class’ festival.
