Functional and Comparative Genomics

    Biography

    Personal Statement

I hold a PhD in Genetics from the University of Georgia, USA and completed my postdoctoral training in the lab of Dr. Zachary Lewis where I studied the epigenetic mechanisms of genome stability in the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa. Currently I focus on Scientific Outreach and Education for FungiDB database (www.fungidb.org). FungiDB belongs to the family of Eukaryotic Pathogen Databases that aims to integrate diverse datasets and provide researchers with tools to mine the underlying data. I lead calls with FungiDB advisory groups (Cryptococcus, Coccidioides, Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Neurospora), interact with fungal communities, teach workshops, generate tutorials and manuscripts about how to use FungiDB database, contribute to grant writing, support dataset integration and quality assurance of integrated datasets, facilitate community driven projects, answer help desk tickets, and contribute to other EuPathDB team projects.
