School of Dentistry run the Liverpool Half Marathon

On the 17 March many of our staff and students from the School of Dentistry took part in the Liverpool Half marathon in support of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

It was great to see both the effort in fundraising for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and the hard work training, pay off. Out of the 55 staff and students who ran we had several standout performances on the day including, Joshua Makin (BDS5) who came 9th (male) with a time of 1:13:27, Isabelle Jones (CLC1) came 2nd (female) with a time of 1:22:07 and Niamh Donnelly (BDS4) who came 3rd (female) with a time of 1:22:37. An incredible display of athleticism and determination!

The support for our runners was fantastic with many friends and family coming down to support, cheering the runners along at various points along the winding route through the heart of Liverpool’s Sefton Park and along the ionic waterfront.

Thanks to overwhelming support of the community, we managed to raise over £5,500 exceeding the original target of £3,500 by a considerable sum, a remarkable achievement they should all be very proud of. As we celebrate the success of our runners, we look forward to competing next year, and hope to raise even more money!
