Emma Macmillan
PhD student
Emma completed her integrated master’s (MSci) in Chemistry at the University of Bristol in 2025. Her final year project under Dr Chris Arthur focused on using machine learning models to predict tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) fragmentation patterns.
In October 2025, she joined the Cooper Group as a PhD researcher. Her work will focus on embedding chemical reasoning within the mobile robot chemist through the use of AI and ML. Emma is particularly interested in machine learning models such as transformers and LLMs and materials discovery.
