Caitlin Shields

Caitlin was graduated from the University of Liverpool with an MChem degree in 2020. For her third-year research project, she worked under the supervision of Dr Christophe Aissa, and investigated the reactivity of α-amide substituted sulfoxonium ylides in transition-metal catalysed reactions. Her fourth-year project, supervised by Dr Anna Slater, focussed on the synthesis and reduction of a dissymmetric porous organic cage using continuous flow chemistry. After graduating, she worked for 1 year as an LC-MS analyst at Smithers, looking at extractable and leachable compounds in pharmaceutical devices. She joined the Cooper group 2021 as part of the Autonomous Design of Advanced Materials (ADAM) project. Her PhD research will be based on organic materials synthesis and is co-supervised by Dr Anna Slater.
