The University of Liverpool collaborated with NVIDIA and Dell Technologies to host an AI Discovery Day: Powering Research and Innovation, bringing together over 150 University and industry staff.
The event, on 22 October 2025, showcased the University’s pioneering AI research, infrastructure innovation, and real-world applications, focusing on simulation, robotics, and generative AI. Keynotes included Andy Grant, EMEA Director – Supercomputing and AI, Higher Education & Research at NVIDIA, Tiffany St James, Chief AI Officer at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and Arshad Farhad, CTO Healthcare & Life Sciences Vertical Lead – Europe, Middle East & Africa, NVIDIA, who delivered a talk on WOW to HOW: Healthcare AI in Action. University researchers presented on Large Language Models (LLMs), multimodal systems, AI, and digital twins, while NVIDIA and Dell shared insights on scaling AI infrastructure. University leaders also outlined their vision for AI innovation and the AI for Life Research Frontier.

The day included a poster competition for PhD students, which was won by Claire Lebrun from the Economics Subject Group, with Ahmad Mansuri, a PhD Researcher from the School of Architecture, as second, and Qiyuan Xu, a PhD Student in the Department of Physics, came third. The quality and breadth of the submissions were highly commended by judges from both organisations.
