The UK Higher Education Sustainability Leaders Network brings together senior sustainability leaders from universities across the UK to connect, collaborate, and drive sector-wide impact. This network provides a trusted space for strategic discussion, peer support, and collective influence, helping institutions accelerate progress towards their sustainability goals.

The network meets every two months online, with an annual in-person meeting hosted by a member institution. Meetings typically last around 60 minutes and focus on strategic topics identified by members. Agendas are shared in advance, action summaries are circulated following each meeting, and additional meetings are arranged where required to respond to emerging priorities.
The network is intended for senior sustainability leaders working across UK higher education institutions who hold strategic responsibility for sustainability. It brings together professionals responsible for shaping institutional sustainability strategy and direction, providing a forum focused on strategic leadership, collaboration and sector-wide influence. The network complements existing operational sustainability networks by concentrating on strategic priorities and leadership rather than day-to-day operational delivery.
The Higher Education Sustainability Leaders Network is co-chaired by Sally Shaw, Associate Director of Sustainability at the University of Liverpool, and Professor Stéphanie Panichelli-Batalla, Academic Director for Sustainability at the University of Warwick.
