To indicate our commitment to our stakeholders, identify the key issues and act as a touchstone for our actions, the University has adopted a number of key policies and strategies.

| Sustainability Strategy 2031 | The Sustainability Strategy creates a long-term vision for our shared future that encapsulates our desire to act as global leaders in environmental, social and corporate sustainability. Recognising both the global value of our academic role and our local impact as a large organisation, our vision is to drive forward environmental and social equity through our education, research, and operations, making a positive impact within and beyond our boundaries. |

The University's Climate Plan sets out our ambitions, principles, and commitments as well as referencing the key supporting documents that work to enable the University to address the climate crisis. |
| Biodiversity Plan |
The Biodiversity plan sets out our core principles which will guide the University’s response to the biodiversity crisis both within our estate and beyond. |
| Energy Strategy 2031+ |
The Energy Strategy sets out a long-term framework for how we will strategically manage and transform the energy infrastructure that underpins our campuses, research and teaching. |
| Waste Management Plan |
The University’s Waste Management Plan (2021 - 2025) outlines how we will reduce waste through prevention, reuse, recycling, and recovery, ensuring safe, lawful disposal and improved waste practices. |
| Environmental Policy Statement | The University’s environmental policy outlines the University’s sustainability objectives and provides a clear commitment to comply with relevant legislation, regulations and other requirements. |
| Climate and Ecological Crisis Joint Statement | University of Liverpool, Campus Trade Unions, and Liverpool Guild of Students Joint Declaration of a Climate and Ecological Crisis. |
| Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research & Innovation Practice | The University of Liverpool signed letter of commitment to the priorities of the Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice. |
Annual reporting
The Sustainability Strategy Progress Report and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Report together provide a comprehensive and transparent overview of the University’s sustainability performance and impact.
The Sustainability Strategy Progress Report is published annually and reports on progress made against the commitments and measures of success set out in the Sustainability Strategy.
The SDG Report is published annually by academic year and showcases our contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through case studies spanning research, teaching and operations.
These reports should be read alongside one another, as together they provide a full account of our progress towards the aims and objectives set out in our Environmental Policy, Sustainability Policy, Sustainability Strategy and Climate Plan.
