We are delighted to share the shortlisted gallery from the Earth Day 2026 photography competition, delivered in partnership with Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). The competition supports the University’s commitment to addressing the twin challenges of climate and biodiversity change through our Sustainability Strategy.
This year’s theme, Stories of Sustainability, invited staff, students and alumni from both institutions to capture moments that reflect our changing planet, from nature and biodiversity to climate action, innovation and everyday sustainable choices.
We received over 100 entries, with the Top 20 selected for their creativity, technical skill and powerful visual storytelling. These images are now on display in joint exhibitions at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and in Abercromby Square on the University of Liverpool campus.
Together, they highlight the power of photography to tell compelling stories, spark reflection and inspire action.
