Allergens Policy
Campus Food & Drink
Allergens & Dietary Requirements
Campus Food & Drink is committed to providing accurate allergen information to help students, staff and visitors make informed choices about the food they consume.
In accordance with current food information legislation, allergen information is available for the 14 legally declarable allergens present in our food and drink products. Customers can access allergen information through our digital allergen systems and are encouraged to speak to a member of staff if they require further information.
Our Approach to Allergens and Gluten
Food is prepared in kitchens that handle allergens and gluten. While we take steps to minimise risk, we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely allergen‑free or gluten‑free.
We maintain a range of controls designed to reduce the risk of unintended allergen or gluten cross‑contact, including ingredient verification, staff training, cleaning procedures and allergen management systems. However, because allergens and gluten-containing ingredients are used within shared kitchen environments, cross‑contact cannot be completely eliminated.
For this reason, food prepared within University catering operations should not be considered allergen‑free or gluten‑free.
Customers with Allergies, Intolerances or Coeliac Disease
Customers with food allergies, intolerances or coeliac disease are encouraged to review the allergen information available and discuss their requirements with a member of staff before making their food selection.
For pre-booked events and catering services, dietary requirements should be communicated at the time of booking to allow us to assess available options and provide the most accurate information possible.
Pre‑Packed Products
Some commercially pre‑packed products supplied by third‑party manufacturers may be labelled as gluten‑free or suitable for specific dietary requirements. Such claims are based on the manufacturer's controls, assurance processes and product labelling, rather than University Catering operations.
