You’ll undertake tailored modules that are either fully bespoke or curated by academics to reflect the best of our offer and to maximise your time in Liverpool. Plus, your academic study will be supported by module-specific language and skills development.
You’ll graduate with two qualifications. You’ll receive an XJTLU degree that is recognised by the Chinese Ministry of Education and a University of Liverpool degree.
Our Global Opportunities team are the main University contact for students studying on the 2+1+1 programme. The online application window for the 2+1+1 programme is open from January-April. You can submit your application online via e-Bridge.

You can apply for 2+1+1 programme if you’re in stage 2 (year 2) of the courses outlined above.

With the University of Liverpool’s Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship overseeing the development of the programme, you can be confident that you’re connecting to a global network of entrepreneurial thought and experience.
Fees and scholarships
The fee for the Taicang 2+1+1 year is £26,100.
All students progressing to Liverpool from XJTLU via the Taicang 2+1+1 programme will benefit from a 10% tuition fee award, bringing the fee to £23,490.
Fees shown are for the academic year 2025/26.
XJTLU students that join Liverpool who are in the top 5% of their programme cohort and who achieve a minimum average score of 80%+ for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, or 70%+ for non-STEM subjects will receive a Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship of a 30% reduction in tuition fees.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship cannot be combined with the XJTLU partnership discount. Discounts and scholarships are valid for the programme duration at UoL. Students required to retake a year at Liverpool will be required to pay the full OSI tuition rate during the retake year.

Transferring to Liverpool
You'll undertake your ‘Year in Liverpool’ in year 3, before returning to Taicang to complete a final year project in connection with one of Taicang’s industry partners.
The Liverpool Mobility Manager at XJTLU, working with colleagues at both universities, will lead a series of information sessions and webinars to guide you through everything you need to know to successfully transfer to Liverpool.

These sessions are your chance to speak to the academics behind the 2+1+1 programme, learn about course content, facilities and the city, and ask any questions you may have. Sessions will be recorded and shared after each event.
