Taicang 2+1+1 programme

Students on select undergraduate courses at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) can study in Liverpool for one year on our bespoke 2+1+1 programme. This study option is designed to enhance the academic and entrepreneurial skills you’ll develop as part of your undergraduate course.

The 2+1+1 programme has been structured to expand the learning of those studying at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). You must be studying on the following courses XJTLU Entrepreneur College to undertake the 2+1+1:

  • Data Science and Big Data Technology with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism BEng (Hons)
  • Intelligent Supply Chain with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism BSc (Hons)
  • Artificial Intelligence (Advanced Industrial Artificial Intelligence) BEng (Hons).

You’ll undertake tailored modules that are either fully bespoke or curated by academics to reflect the best of our offer and to maximise your time in Liverpool. Plus, your academic study will be supported by module-specific language and skills development.

You’ll graduate with two qualifications. You’ll receive an XJTLU degree recognised by the Chinese Ministry of Education and a University of Liverpool degree.

How to apply


The online application window for the 2+1+1 programme is open from January to April. You can submit your application online via e-Bridge.

Eligibility


You can apply for 2+1+1 programme if you’re in stage 2 (year 2) of the courses outlined above.

Fees and scholarships

The fee for the Taicang 2+1+1 year 2026/27 is £27,000. All students progressing to Liverpool from XJTLU via the programme will benefit from a 10% tuition fee award, bringing the fee to £24,300. 

XJTLU students that join Liverpool who are in the top 5% of their programme cohort and who achieve a minimum average score of 80%+ for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, or 70%+ for non-STEM subjects will receive a Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship of a 30% reduction in tuition fees.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship cannot be combined with the XJTLU partnership discount. Discounts and scholarships are valid for the programme duration at Liverpool.

Students required to retake a year at Liverpool will be required to pay full tuition fees for international students during the retake year.

Transferring to Liverpool

You'll undertake your ‘Year in Liverpool’ in year 3, before returning to Taicang to complete a final year project in connection with one of Taicang’s industry partners.

The Liverpool Mobility Manager at XJTLU, working with colleagues at both universities, will lead a series of information sessions and webinars to guide you through everything you need to know to successfully transfer to Liverpool.
