Artificial Intelligence BEng (Hons)

Designed exclusively for students at the Taicang campus, the Taicang 2+1+1 programme is a unique initiative aimed at enriching your educational journey and preparing you for success in a globalised world. This programme serves to complement and extend your studies in Taicang, providing you with a well-rounded profile that stands out in today's competitive job market.

Artificial Intelligence is one of the most important and cutting-edge sub-fields in Computer Science. It’s transforming industries from technology, robotics and finance to healthcare, creative and third sectors.

Home to world-class experts who conduct ground-breaking research, the 2021 Research Excellence Frame Network rated the Department of Computer Science 5th in the UK for world leading (4*) research outputs, with 100% of our research environment rated as world leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*).

Shaped by our world-leading research in data science, machine learning, robotics and AI+, on this programme you’ll learn the key facts, principles, and concepts of computer science, while developing specialist expertise in AI theories, methods, and applications. You’ll develop knowledge of modern languages, tools and practices used in the specification, design, implementation and evaluation of both traditional and AI related computer-based systems.

Our goal is to develop highly-employable, innovative and responsible graduates. Fees and funding

Tuition fees cover the cost of your teaching and assessment, operating facilities such as libraries, IT equipment, and access to academic and personal support.

All Taicang 2+1+1 students receive a partnership discount of 10% on international tuition fee rates.

XJTLU students beginning studies at Liverpool will receive a Vice Chancellor's Merit Scholarship of a 30% tuition fee reduction if they're in the top 5% of their programme cohort and achieve a minimum average score of 80%+ for STEM subjects, or 70%+ for non-STEM subjects.

The Vice-Chancellor's Merit Scholarship cannot be combined with the XJTLU partnership discount. Discounts and scholarships are valid for the programme duration at Liverpool.

Please note, students required to retake a year at Liverpool will be required to pay the full international tuition fee during the retake year.

Tuition fees

2026 tuition fee for Taicang 2+1+1 students (inclusive of 10% discount) - £23,490.

2026 tuition fee for Taicang 2+1+1 students qualifying for Vice Chancellor's Merit Scholarship (inclusive of 30% discount) - £18,270.

Fees stated are for the 2026-27 academic year.
