And it’s officially summer, with the weather to match! I do hope you have managed some time to top up your vitamin D, whether climbing or paddleboarding with Wilderness Medicine and LMSS or simply enjoying time in the Cedar garden. The summer season also means trips on the bus to Aintree and a chance to reflect on the successes of the year and the many ways that the School family has supported these.
It has been a wonderfully exciting and successful year, not least the FANTASTIC 99.5% pass rate Y5 achieved in the national MLA! Huge congratulations to all of you! We are so proud of the doctors you will be in August, and so glad to have shared the many fun times there have been over these years. It will be hard to say goodbye!
This month has also seen us welcome 1100 prospective applicants to the School considering whether to follow in your footsteps. As I prepare soon to hang up my own stethoscope, I found it especially wonderful to see the excitement on all the new faces and to feel again the age-old wave of commitment to care.
I can honestly say that I believe everything I say at Open Days - medicine is truly the most wonderful profession, giving so much more than it takes. It is a team sport (something many of you excel at also) and I hope that our newest doctors will enjoy embedding themselves in the team in August, and ride the wave of discovery that is a lifetime of care.
