Managers need to know how to navigate the world’s grand challenges—ecological crises, poverty, inequality, among many others. On this module, students will approach grand challenges from three major perspectives: environmental, social, and governance. The environmental perspective will explore the problems brought by the ecological crises and how businesses may face them through sustainability initiatives. The social perspective will explore how businesses relate to human rights and how they may contribute to a more equitable society. Finally, the governance perspective will present how businesses may be better governed and organised to successfully face grand challenges. On completion of the module, students will know what grand challenges are, how they affect businesses, and what tools they may use to face them.
