School resources
The Department of Chemistry actively engages in outreach initiatives to enhance chemistry education.
Portable Spectroscopy
We are part of the Royal Society of Chemsitry’s programme giving schools access to state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation in the study of chemistry.
Instrumentation available includes infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR) and UV-Visible spectroscopy.
This project complements our spectroscopy workshop days that we put on for students from local schools and colleges.
Postgraduate students visit schools taking portable instruments and tailored hands-on experiments designed to enrich the GCSE and AS/A2 curricula.
