The University’s Environmental Sustainability Team and the Strategic Change Department have been highly commended at this year’s AUDE Awards in the ‘University Impact Initiative of the Year’ category.

The AUDE Awards (Association of University Directors of Estates) highlight and celebrate the exceptional achievements of estates and facilities professionals in the higher education sector and the winners were announced at St George's Hall in Liverpool on Wednesday 5 April, during the AUDE 2023 Conference.

University Impact Initiative of the Year

The University Impact Initiative of the Year award recognises a specific initiative having a significant positive impact on the institution, the sector and/or the profession. The collaboration between both teams was highly commended for the development of the Climate Plan and other recent sustainability initiatives which have raised the profile of their work internally and externally.

The team are passionately driving progress towards achieving our Net Zero 2035 target and supporting colleagues in education and research to make essential behaviour changes through the implementation of new governance, systems and processes.

Sustainability Programme Manager Sally Shaw said:“We are proud to have established a strong working relationship between the Environmental Sustainability Team in FRCS and the Strategic Change Department. The very different but complementary skillsets of the two teams is enabling us to drive forward our sustainability plans at pace, and this unique collaboration between two professional services departments is what sets us apart from other universities.

We’re thrilled to have our work acknowledged and are looking forward to building upon our achievements so far, by working with colleagues and students to deliver the ambitions and commitments set out in the University’s Sustainability Strategy and Climate Plan.”
