Clubs and societies
Experience university life to the fullest and find your passion in life when you join a club or society.
As a student, you'll have access to more than 200 clubs and societies, run mostly through the Guild of Students. So you're sure to find something to throw yourself into, no matter your passion. Whether you’re looking to join a sports club, want to flex your debating muscles or are looking to try something completely new, find your perfect hobby.
If we don’t already offer something that takes your fancy, you can even set up your own club or society to share your passion with others. You’ll benefit from development, guidance and funding opportunities to support your group.
Why join a club or society?
University clubs and societies are run by students, for students. They’re a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, develop new skills, share hobbies and interests and even explore new things, broadening your horizons along the way. With many groups celebrating cultural diversity, clubs and societies also provide that feeling of belonging and a chance to connect with other people who share similar life experiences.
Clubs and societies to suit everyone
From art to archaeology, poker to politics, you’re sure to find a club or society that interests you. Some clubs may be linked to certain degrees or areas of study, while others represent passions and hobbies outside of your studies.
Creative and performing arts
The University of Liverpool is home to several creative and performing arts societies including:
- Liverpool University Music Society (LUMS)

Everyone is welcome, even if you just appreciate the arts. Enjoy discussions, events and activities with fellow creatives and enthusiasts.
Academic and educational
Most of our academic departments have student-led societies you can join. You can also find 50 academic societies run through the Guild of Students, from Accounting and Finance to Zoology. Many groups are open to all students at the University, so you can join a society to further your knowledge for your degree, or simply to learn something new.
