Fitness Consultants
Sport Liverpool is looking for enthusiastic people to work within a vibrant, busy, diverse environment. Individuals must be hard-working and passionate about delivering excellent customer service. - Candidates must hold a Level 2 fitness qualification
- Have experience in fitness testing, programme design and inductions
- Provide on-going instructional services to customers in order to ensure safe and effective use of the Gym equipment
- Hours will vary week-to-week
- Full induction, staff training and uniform will be provided

Lifeguards
Work as part of the team to provide excellent customer service at the University Sports & Fitness Centre, ensuring the safety of all users and maintaining cleanliness across the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver efficient, friendly service to staff, students, and the public.
- Ensure all sports centre facilities, including the swimming pool, meet safety standards.
- Follow all health & safety policies, Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs), and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
- Perform life guarding duties, monitor pool water quality, and report anomalies.
- Set up and take down equipment for activities and maintain all areas and equipment.
- Record and report customer enquiries, complaints, and maintenance issues.
- Carry out cleaning and hygiene tasks across the centre, including changing rooms and associated areas.
- Provide cover for absent colleagues as required.
- Undertake ongoing training and stay updated on industry developments.
- Assist senior staff with service improvements and other duties as needed.

Student Opportunities:
Halls Sport Coordinator
The Coordinator role will involve promoting and delivering halls sports activities and tournaments, as well as supporting Sport Liverpool staff and leads in the delivery of various on-campus events such as Halls Sports on Friday nights, Get Active Week, Feel Good February, and other Sport Liverpool initiatives including Societies Sports Days, Staff Sport Events, and Turn Up & Play sessions. Coordinators will be responsible for promoting and advertising halls sports tournaments and campus sports opportunities to students within their halls of residence through word of mouth, posters, social media, and other channels, ensuring they act as the main point of contact and voice for their hall. They will also recruit students to take part in tournaments and campus sports, attend as many sessions and events as possible—both as participants and as helpers in running tournaments—and gather feedback from students on additional sports they would like to see included in the programme. In addition, Coordinators will promote and advertise Campus Sport leagues and the Turn Up & Play programme, while also attending Halls Rep meetings and Activator training sessions to enhance their knowledge of event delivery and share new ideas.
Time Commitment:
• 5 Hours Per Week
• Support on the Friday evening Halls Sport Night 8-10pm (On Event delivery).
• Activator Training – Start of Term (3 hours maximum).
• Dependent on events taking place.
Payment:
• £500 per Year (expenses)
• Additional Payment for extra work (weekend tournaments).
As the above position is in return for time and commitment Halls Sport Activators will be provided with:
• University of Liverpool Sports Kit
• Access to sports facilities for sessions free of charge.
• Support with Coaching/Referee/Activator Courses suitable to the position.
• Role & impact will be added to Student’s HEAR (University transcript).
Student Ambassador - Content Creation - Volunteer Role
As a Student Ambassador for Content Creation with Active Liverpool, you will play a key role in supporting our Content Creator Interns to deliver engaging, sport-focused media for our social channels and student news platforms. This voluntary position is ideal for enthusiastic students who want to share the energy of university sport and fitness, while gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing. You will assist with capturing event coverage, creating short-form videos, taking photographs, and producing written stories that reflect the authentic student sport experience.
Although unpaid, the role offers invaluable professional experience, the opportunity to work within a collaborative marketing team, and recognition through the Careers and Employability Awards upon completion—enhancing both your CV and future career prospects. You will receive additional benefits with the role, this includes a free gym membership and University of Liverpool branded Castore kit.
You will be expected to attend two 1 hour meetings per month and produce at minimum 3 pieces of content per term. We are currently recruiting for this role. Apply here.
Halls Sport Activator - Volunteer role
The Activator role will include:
• Promote and attend Halls sports activities and tournaments.
• Promote and advertise halls sports tournaments and campus sport to students in your halls of residence via word of mouth, poster, social media etc. Making sure you are the voice and point of contact for your halls.
• Recruit students from your halls to take part in halls sports tournaments and/or campus sport.
• Recruit Captain for particular events (e.g. Football, Futsal, Dodgeball, TT, Rounders etc).
• Attend as many hall’s sports sessions and tournaments as possible (both participating and helping to run the tournaments)
• Supporting the running of any internal hall’s events (e.g.TT League)
• Gain feedback from students in your halls about additional sports they would like to be included in the programme.
• Promote and advertise Campus Sport leagues and the Turn Up & Play programme to students in your halls.
• Attend Halls Rep meetings/ Activator training in order to further knowledge of delivery and share ideas.
Halls sport activators will be given free sports kit and access to sports facilities for sessions
free of charge. Support for any Coaching/Referee/Activator Courses suitable to the position.
Content Creator Internship
At Active Liverpool we hire two students who take up a year long internship within our department. They work within our marketing team to create content for our social media channels and lead a group of student ambassadors. The Content Creator Internship at Active Liverpool offers hands-on experience in digital marketing, with a focus on producing engaging, high-quality content to promote student sport and physical activity across the University. Interns will plan, create, and edit a variety of media—including photography, video, graphics, and written copy—for use on our social media channels, website, and student news platforms. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop creative skills, gain professional marketing experience, and build a portfolio of work in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
The role is hired during the Summer with a start date in September. The roles for 2025/26 have been filled.
Rugby Development
The Rugby Development role at Active Liverpool is a part-time position providing administrative and organisational support to our Sport Development Team. You will be responsible for managing RFU systems to ensure all players are fully registered, coordinating the Friday Night Lights programme, and delivering at least one rugby event per term—such as 7s tournaments, mixed touch rugby, or BUCS Development festivals.
Working closely with the wider Active Liverpool team, you will monitor participation numbers, prepare reports, and contribute to network meetings. The role also involves liaising on the delivery of Men’s and Women’s BUCS Development League programmes, arranging hub fixtures and festival events, and collaborating with our interns and marketing team to create engaging content that promotes and grows rugby at the University. You will play a key part in overseeing all rugby activity on campus, from event delivery and community outreach to developing partnerships that strengthen the sport’s presence and impact.
