Law and Ethics in Child Health LLM
This master’s is the first dedicated law and ethics programme specifically in child health nationally. Delivered mostly as a distance learning programme, it is designed for professionals and individuals from diverse backgrounds working within the field of child health or related fields (minimum of 12 months experience) to develop their understanding of the legal and ethical dimensions of paediatric healthcare.
The programme has been developed and will be delivered by leading law academics in healthcare law, ethics and children’s rights based in the School of Law and Social Justice at the University of Liverpool, in partnership with expert healthcare professionals with a background in law and clinical ethics from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Through the examination of ethical frameworks, law, policy and research as they apply to real-world issues and cases, students will not only gain theoretical insights but, importantly, practical insights into the intersection of law, ethics and the delivery of paediatric healthcare.
Applied Anatomy with Education MSc
This exciting new programme explores the intricacies of human anatomy in a range of applied contexts through a modern, skills-based curriculum designed to enhance employability in healthcare, scientific, education and related industry careers.
Students will apply anatomical knowledge to real-world challenges through advanced techniques in cadaveric dissection, medical imaging, segmentation, digital manipulation and subsequent analyses. These activities will be conducted independently in areas chosen by the individual, under guidance from expert anatomists. Varied clinical and research applications are interrogated through regular journal clubs, appraisals and proposals, in preparation for a larger independent project.
Learners also develop as educators through a six-month programme that involves regular teaching experience, training in academic scholarship and continuous self-reflection. This culminates in a portfolio of evidence set against the Advance HE UK Professional Standards Framework and the learner's unique professional identity.
Critical Care MSc
Critical care services face increasing clinical complexity, workforce pressures, and rising expectations for safe, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. Caring for critically ill adults requires advanced clinical knowledge, confident decision‑making and strong leadership within fast‑paced, high‑stakes environments. The Critical Care MSc has been designed to enhance knowledge, clinical reasoning, research literacy and leadership capability for nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs) working in critical care.
Veterinary Forensic Science MSc
Animal abuse, neglect and welfare concerns are increasing throughout the UK and worldwide. The field of forensic science means to apply scientific methods to criminal cases and particularly focuses on gathering and analysing evidence that may be required for courts of law. This requires a broad knowledge of the resources available to aid in gathering evidence and ultimately interpreting the findings that can be relayed to the court environment. Animal cases are often indicators of potential human issues and may act as early warning signs that there is a domestic issue. Therefore, forensic application of investigations into animal cruelty and neglect can prevent escalation of violence to child abuse and domestic violence.
This master’s course aims to provide a holistic approach to animal forensic cases in this emerging field of expertise. You'll gain insight in the animal welfare legislation, the forensic veterinary examination, expert witness skills and various tools that are viable to build a case. You'll also benefit from teaching by experts in the field and will have the opportunity to conduct research in the area.
