Rugare Maruzani

Rugare Maruzani is a full time PhD student in the Health Data Science department. Funded by the MRC’s DiMeN DTP, the project investigates the utility of circulating tumour DNA combined with machine learning models to better manage cancer as a disease. Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) is released by tumour cells, and represents the entire genetic makeup of an individual patient’s cancer. Additionally the biological properties of ctDNA can be employed in machine learning models to predict cancer, treatment response and prognosis. ctDNA has the potential to play a significant role in personalised care of cancer patients. The project is in collaboration with the industrial partner Nanocus Inc.

Prior to joining the University of Liverpool, Rugare studied Molecular Medicine at the University of Sheffield.

Hannah Kockelbergh

Hannah Kockelbergh is a full-time PhD student in the department of Health Data Science, University of Liverpool. Her research focuses on developing machine learning-based novel diagnostics which rely on immune repertoire sequencing, primarily for autoimmune disease. She has previously worked at the Science and Technology Facilities Council as the Accelerator Science and Technology Centre's machine learning specialist.
