Places and Spaces for Health Equity, Research and Engagement (SPHERE)
The Healthy Urban Places for Health Equity (HUP-EQ) group sits under Health Inequalities Policy Research (HIP-R), with a focus on understanding how urban places impact health, and how this understanding can be used to improve population health and reduce inequalities.
Groups meetings are welcoming and research-focussed and there will be opportunities to attend an online seminar series with guest speakers that explore the impact of urban environments on health.
The healthy urban places for health equity group brings together researchers from disciplines including public health, social science, data science, geography, planning, economics, epidemiology and more, to robustly evaluate how and why local environments influence population health. The group brings together diverse approaches, and working with communities and local partners, aims to generate robust insights for, and embed learnings in, local policy and practice to inform place-based changes that improve health. Core values include a focus on health equity and co-production so that we generate understanding with people that can make urban places healthier for everyone.
