Department of Psychology lecturer Dr Leanne Jackson took part in Pint of Science on Monday 19 May 2025.

Pint of Science takes place in pubs across the country and aims to provide a space for researchers and members of the public to be curious and chat about research in a relaxed environment.

Each event focuses on a specific theme, with more than 42 locations across the UK hosting Pint of Science throughout the year.

Dr Jackson delivered a talk at the 'Stranger Than Fiction' event at The Bridewell, Liverpool, called 'Squid Game - The Cost of Survival', which focused on moral decision making in the Netflix series.

Talks on the night were also delivered by Bethany Facer, a PhD student at the University of Liverpool and Nath Bramald, LADA PhD Researcher at the Department of English, University of Liverpool.

The event received positive feedback, with members of the public describing the talks as 'Super enjoyable and accessible,' and adding that the presentations were 'Very engaging and fun.'

Speaking about participating in the event, Dr Jackson said: "Taking part in Pint of Science has been one of the most personally rewarding experiences of my career.

"It was a real joy to step outside my usual routine and dip into the world of performance, all while sharing something I truly love."
