On 10 June, the Department of Politics was delighted to support a centrally organised networking event at Westminster, which consisted of around 90 attendees including Parliamentarians from the Commons and Lords, national print and broadcast journalists, Special Advisors from Number 10 and the Treasury, and also a number of our Politics alumni who currently work across Parliament, the Civil Service, and wider public affairs.

The Department was represented at the event by the Chair and Head of Department, Prof Samantha Ashenden, Dr David Jeffery, Prof Jon Tonge, and Dr Kevin Hickson, who each met and socialised with the attendees for the evening.

The evening was introduced by the University VC, who gave a brief speech to attendees about the exciting progress at the University, including the creation and launch of a brand new MA programme in the Department of Politics and Heseltine Institute entitled ‘Public Administration and Policy’. The programme is attractive to those seeking great professional competencies within political, social, and policy-based fields of work, which includes sessions by existing practitioners and stakeholders, as well as those seeking a postgraduate qualification in this dimension of political studies.
