Research

Ruth's PhD, supervised by Dr Joe Davies, centred on Schubert's relationship with the piano, with recordings on historical keyboard instruments and a live recital forming part of her project.

Her current research continues to focus on performance practice of piano music, particularly in the nineteenth century. Other areas of interest include methods of dealing with performance anxiety, harmony and counterpoint, eighteenth to nineteenth-century music history and analysis, as well as wider performance and pedagogical topics.
