About

I have been a physiotherapist for over thirty years and a physiotherapy lecturer for over 20 years. I am currently Director of Studies for the BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Programme. In this leadership role, I work closely with the Professional Lead to ensure the day-to-day running of the programme and ensure that we meet both the Professional and Regulatory Body Standards alongside University policies and procedures.

I am also a member of the Faculty Academic Quality Standards Committee, Progress Committee and the SAHPN Curriculum Board.

I have been involved in a variety of modules and assessment procedures at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have experience in module design, including planning delivery of lectures, tutorials and practical sessions. As well as devising and producing electronic resources to support student learning. I have formulated both formative and summative assessments using a variety of assessment strategies including; assignment questions, practical skills examinations, practice portfolios and examination papers. I am also an examiner and moderator for a wide variety of different assessment procedures at postgraduate and undergraduate level, including, reflective assignments, dissertations, practice portfolios, seminar presentations, posters, Viva’s and clinical skills examinations. I am familiar with a variety of electronic marking software (Blackboard, TURNITIN, Canvas, MOODLE, Grademark, LIFTUPP and PARE).

Previous roles have included Director of Student Support for the SAHPN, my duties included meeting with students, chairing the regular SAHPN UG and PG Staff Student Liaison Committee Meetings, networking with relevant stakeholders, signposting to support services, co-ordinating the SAHPN Peer Mentoring System, preparing students for Progress Committees, staff consultation and training. As an External Examiner for several physiotherapy programmes at other UK universities, i had the opportunity to contribute to the development of various assessment procedures, offering constructive feedback and advice as required.

My primary interests are musculoskeletal practice, pedagogy and student support.
