Research
My primary research interests include Indigenous ontologies, ecocriticism and queer theory in modern and contemporary postcolonial literature. I specialise in African continental and diasporic writing, with a broader expertise in postcolonial theory and critical race theory. I have published on a range of texts, genres and fields within postcolonial studies, including the artistic and musical legacies of Afrofuturist fiction, new materialism in South Asian writing, genre and ontology in contemporary Nigerian literature, and Indigenous ontologies in Taiwanese diasporic ecocriticism.
I am currently developing a project on queer animist literary engagements with environmental exploitation and human injustice in the work of a range of writers from Africa, continental North America and the Caribbean.
