About
Janine helps to guide, shape and support the success of a ground-breaking new centre for law and social justice research, the Centre for People's Justice.
Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the Centre is a collaboration between 7 Universities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and nearly 40 other organisations worldwide.
The Centre brings together researchers, legal, cultural and artistic practitioners, charities, policy-makers, activists and those with lived experience to share knowledge and skills and generate a new, partnership-based approach to social justice research.
The Centre’s governance, education and research agenda is underpinned by its social justice values of equity, empowerment, care, trust and inclusion.
While outwardly engaged, the Centre is based in the School of Law and Social Justice, part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Liverpool.
Working closely with the Centre’s Principal Convenors, Professor Helen Stalford and Professor Lydia Hayes (University of Liverpool), and its EDI Convenor, Professor Nicole Busby (University of Glasgow), and as a key member of the Core Coordination Team, Janine leads with transparency and integrity, supporting inclusion and diversity in all aspects of the Centre’s delivery and its impacts.
Janine is primarily responsible for operational management in line with the Centre’s overarching mission and values; to bring law and social justice research closer to people’s hopes, needs, and interests in fairer, stronger and more inclusive societies.
