About
I am a Public Advisor Researcher with EquaDem - the ERSC Equalities in Dementia Network Plus, working to ensure that the experiences and perspectives of people affected by dementia are meaningfully represented in our research. Led by the University of Liverpool and co-led by the University of Newcastle, EquaDem Network brings together researchers, health and social care professionals, policymakers, and people with lived experience to address inequalities in dementia diagnosis, treatment and care. Its approach is grounded in co-production—ensuring that research is developed with people living with dementia and their carers.
My role involves contributing to project development, evidence reviews and discussions across the network with a focus on strengthening the public voice within dementia research.
I am a professionally qualified NCTJ journalist with more than 30 years experience in communications and digital content creation. I also have extensive personal experience caring for close family members with dementia, particularly Lewy Body Dementia and Alzheimer’s. These experiences strongly shape my motivation to support research that improves diagnosis and care and reduces the inequalities many families still face.
