About

I am an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of English at the University of Liverpool. My research uses corpus linguistic and discourse analytic methods to explore the relationship between language, text and context in different social, institutional and cultural settings. My research has explored health policy, migration and historical correspondence, and my current work focuses on the communication of cyber risk. Across these areas, I am interested in how language both reflects and constructs social experience.

My research is interdisciplinary and has involved collaborations with colleagues in linguistics, history, psychology, migration studies, cybersecurity and international relations. I combine corpus linguistic and qualitative approaches to examine language use in real-world contexts.
