About
I lead the University of Liverpool’s body donation programme and am responsible for the quality management system that supports all of our anatomical activities under HTA Licence 12022. My work brings together regulatory expertise, operational leadership and compassionate engagement with donors and their families.
A key part of my role is supporting the Designated Individual by developing the systems, evidence and assurance needed for effective oversight. I lead the implementation and continual improvement of our quality framework — from documentation and SOPs to risk management, audit and incident reporting — ensuring that our practices remain aligned with HTA standards and reflect good quality management principles. I work closely with colleagues across anatomy, research, governance and health and safety to keep our processes coherent, transparent and fit for purpose.
Alongside this, I manage the Bequeathals Office and the end-to-end operation of the Body Donation Programme. This includes donor registration, consent verification, traceability and after-study arrangements, as well as supporting families during what can be an emotional and complex time. I am often the first person that prospective donors or their relatives speak with, and it is a privilege to guide them through a decision that is both generous and deeply meaningful.
My role blends technical precision with human connection: maintaining strong governance and compliance systems while ensuring every donor is treated with dignity and respect. I also lead the planning of our annual Service of Thanksgiving, where we come together with families, staff and students to honour and remember those who have contributed so much to medical education.
It is an honour to work within the Human Anatomy Resource Centre, where we approach every aspect of our work with care, integrity and gratitude for the individuals who make anatomical learning possible.
