Feminist theatre in a time of crisis: book launch and roundtable
Wednesday 6 May, 3–4.30 pm
School of Arts Library, University of Liverpool, L69 7ZG, and online
How is feminist theatre responding to – and reshaping – a world defined by crisis? This event brings together leading scholars and practitioners to explore what feminist performance can offer at a moment of political, social, and cultural upheaval. Celebrating the publication of two major new works – Radical Realisms in Contemporary British Theatre (Bloomsbury Methuen Drama) by Dr Hannah Greenstreet and The Gender Politics of Contemporary Performance in Northern Ireland (Palgrave Macmillan) by Dr Alex Coupe, this roundtable invites speakers to engage with the books from their distinct vantage points across the theatre industry.
Alongside Hannah and Alex, the panel features theatre critic Holly Williams and award-winning playwright Abbie Spallen, who will offer reflections shaped by their own critical and creative practices. Together, the speakers will open up a broader conversation about the state of feminist theatre in the UK and Ireland today.
Registration for in person attendance is not required. To join online and for more information, see here.
