Research
Research Overview
Dong is a Reader working for Operations and Supply Chain Management Department. His present research is mainly in sustainable agri-food supply chain management, circular economy practice in supply chains, green logistics and supply chain optimisation. He is presently the grants holder of over €1M research project funded by EC H2020 on sustainable food security. His other research was granted by UK EPSRC on collaborative research on logistics innovation; by EU FP7 on integrated container supply chain management; by UK TSB on local food logistics systems; by EU ERDF on green packaging supply chains. And he was also a co-investigator of EU FP7 project on resilient supply networks and China NSFC funded Project on urban logistics systems.
Dong’s research has been published extensively in high-ranking international journals such as Omega, EJOR, IJPE, TRB, TRE, IJPR, PPC, etc. He is a member of Editorial Boards of several international journals and Leading Guest Editor of special issues of a number of international journals. He was a assessment board member of a food supply chain research programme of Canadian Department of Environment and Agriculture, a Policy Advisory Group member for European project WeastFlows on sustainable transportation. Dong has been working closely with industries, including Peel Ports, Food Northwest, Sainsbury’s Supper Markets, Weir & Carmichael Ltd and Graham Oakes Ltd, etc, and international firms on food supply chain innovation, food waste reduction, green packaging supply chains and local food logistics solutions, etc.
