I believe that engineering can have real impact in reducing the impact of sight threatening eye diseases. I lead a multidisciplinary group of scientists, engineers and clinicians that aims to innovate new treatments for these conditions.
My research interests include ocular drug delivery, biomaterial substrates for tissue engineering and the development of models of drug behaviour in the eye. I have a particular interest in diseases affecting the back of the eye, including diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. I have industrial and clinical collaborators, and research funding from EPSRC, Fight for Sight, the Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness and the Linbury Trust.
