About

Personal Statement

I am a clinical academic with an interest in chronic infectious lung diseases. I am currently an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer carrying out clinical work at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital, and research investigating the long-term health outcomes of people living with chronic lung infection. Prior to this I took three years out of my post-graduate clinical training to complete a research medical doctorate (MD). As part of my MD I gained clinical trial experience by running a clinical trial investigating the utility of inhaled antibiotics in the treatment of acute exacerbation of cystic fibrosis and also extensive experience as a sub-investigator on a wide range of commercial clinical trials in CF and non-CF bronchiectasis.

My research interests focus on aspects of complex lung infection, including cardiometabolic comorbidities, the epidemiology of lung infection and the effects of antibiotics on the lung microbiome. My long-term goals are to improve clinical outcomes for people living with chronic lung infection by advancing understanding, improving early-identification and optimising treatments for the major causes morbidity including anti-microbial resistance and cardiovascular disease.
